Hero Bio:
Harry Pappas, born at Zorcano, Greece, in October, 1888. Entered the Service from Sparks, Nevada, November 2, 1917. Served in 37th Company, 166th Depot Brigade, Camp Lewis, Washington, to November 10, 1917; Company K, 164th Infantry, 41st Division, to January 9, 1918; and in Company G, 16th Infantry, 1st Division, till death. Went over-seas with the 41st Division, December 15, 1917.
Served in front-line trenches in Toul Sector, January 18 – April 2, 1918; in front-line trenches in Mondidier Sector, April 25 – May 28, 1918; in Battle of Cantigny and counter-offensives, May 28, 1918, until wounded in action. Died of wounds, July 4, 1918. Person notified of death, Zesu Pappas, mother, Jorcano Doridot, Greece. All efforts to establish communications with relatives or acquaintances have failed. Private Pappas’ name is on the Honor Roll of Washoe County.
